Various Games - Attend a Tutor Sharing Meeting to discuss / share these games and more!

Scrambles
How many words can you make with the letters in these words:
  • Thanksgiving
  • Grandmother
Sentence Completion
Create parts of sentences on index cards and have the student match them

Big Number Game
Present student with a list of large numbers all spelled out. The student must write the numerical version.
ie: One thousand two hundred and fifteen  (student writes 1,215)

Writing Checks
To practice writing checks, you could look for sample checks by searching for 5th grade teaching materials

Picture Cards
You may find picture cards at yard sales, dollar stores. Create games where you roll 'question dice' and ask questions based on the card and the dice question.

Mixed Up Comic Strips
Cut out each frame of a comic strip and have your student put them in order.

Story Organization
Cut out sentences of a short story and have your student put them in the right order.

Situation Matching
Create 2 sets of cards: 1 set describes a situation (what you do) while the other describes a place. Have the student match them.
IE: Mail a letter (situation) ... Post Office (place)
IE: Have a nice dinner ..... Restaurant
